This combination of "Born on Earth the Divine Christ Child" and "Pat-a-Pan," is my very first (and so far, only) solo for piccolo and piano. The open fifths at the beginning start you down the usual piper's path until some surprising swerves into chromatic territory take you into the realm of the Reed Flutes (never to be left out when there's any piping to be done!) The recording is not a live one, unfortunately, as my piccolo tends to skip every fifth note before it breaks down completely. I think, however, that the computer does a decent job in conveying the idea.
