Holiday Music for Flutes
If you’re looking for Christmas flute music, I’ve got a whole pageful of holiday titles for you to consider! For Flute and Piano, there’s a variety of arrangements in my “Christmas Jubilation” book, including the jazzy “A Cool Silent Night,” and a lively tarantella, “The Angel Gabriel Danced.” If you don’t have an accompanist, no problem! “The Christmas Flutist” contains 20 short solos for flute alone. For 2 flutists, “Christmas Joy,” is available from Shawnee Press. And there’s much more, for 4 players all the way up to flute choirs. Go to the “Holiday” page, browse around, and make your holiday concerts sparkle with a little Nish Music.

The Christmas Clarinetist
Know any clarinet players looking to play Christmas solos without accompaniment? This is quite a departure for me, but the success of “The Christmas Flutist” inspired me to expand the idea to other instruments. These arrangements are not merely a repeat of the ones in...
An Amazing Silent Night
Every Christmas concert needs a “Silent Night” and this new arrangement which combines that carol with another beloved hymn, “Amazing Grace,” is so flexible that it can fit into almost any flute group combination. For 3 C Flutes, 4 C Flutes, 4 C Flutes with Alto Flute, or 4 C Flutes with Alto and Bass Flutes. Perfect for that quiet, contemplative spot in your program.
Sweet (and Sour) Adeline
When Judy Diez d’Aux and Meerenai Shim commissioned me to write a piece for low flute choir, I asked whether they wanted something serious or something funny. I was so glad when they said funny! Because the low flutes are well adapted to mimic a barbershop quartet, I took the classic “Sweet Adeline” and turned it into a battle between Adeline and the bumptious Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair. Each pushes for dominance and dissonance ensues. Premiered at the National Flute Association convention in San Antonio, Aug. 2024. Available from ALRY Publications.
Soaring Spirits 2
I’m pleased to announce a new collection of flute duets from my good friends at Hope Publishing! Due to the success of Volume 1, we’ve put together another book of wonderful spiritual and hymn melodies, including peppy renditions of “This Train” and “Rock-a My Soul,” and soulful arrangements of “Amazing Grace” and “Wayfaring Stranger.” There are even a couple of titles appropriate for the holiday season: “Coventry Carol” and “Wexford Carol.” Available from Hope Publishing.
Welcome to Nish Music!
Flutists who have followed my website travails in the past know that I’ve been offline for over a year. Not having the time to learn new software to re-create my site for the umpteenth time, I was desperately searching for help when a chance post in Facebook’s Flute Forum brought an offer from Jill Tirone of DanceFit Marketing. We hit it off right away and I was able to tap into her expertise and extremely professional work ethic to update, create and launch the cool site you’re visiting now. Thanks, Jill!
